THE LATTER DAY (ASSYRIAN) CONFEDERACY
An intense comparative study will be performed on this subject to see exactly what is been taught from the Codes, the Brethren, and the Rod. It must first be understood that Tr. #14 was published in 1943, and 2TG. # 41 in 1949 where as, according to the Code, the sermon in 12 SC #1 was delivered in 1942 and in 13 SC #’s 3, 4, 1940. The unrolling of the scroll principle will be applied.
When we speak of a confederacy, we speak in the context mentioned in Isa. 7.
THE UNPUBLISHED CODES.
12 SC #1
“Our study for today is taken from several chapters in Isaiah, particularly chapters 12, 13 and 14. Some of these chapters contain prophecies which are illustrated by certain experiences of ancient peoples and nations which at some time were to be repeated. We shall now commence our study with only a brief review of what we have already found in chapters 7 and 8 because our time is limited and you are all more or less familiar with it.
“First is mentioned the history of ancient Israel's unsuccessfully confederating with Syria against Judah, for they could not prevail against her. Instead, both were taken by Assyria. Then follows the prophecy of the birth of Immanuel. Since, however, Christ was born long after the kings of Israel and Syria were taken, it is obvious from verse 16 of chapter 7 that a circumstance was to occur at sometime that would be the antitype of the confederacy which took place anciently between Israel and Syria against Judah, and that in this antitypical period both kings represented by Syria and Israel would be taken by a power represented by Assyria before "Immanuel" would know the difference between good and evil.
“Through these scriptures and historical facts we learned that the antitype of Israel and Syria's confederacy took place commencing in the first century A.D., when one part of the Christians (Israel) federated with pagans (Syria) against the other Christians (Judah), but their combined church-state power was broken by the Protestant nations (Assyria).
“After Isaiah mentions the ancient historical confederacy and then the sign of Immanuel, which we have just reviewed and applied to the experience of the early Christian church history, Isaiah 8:9 warns against another association of peoples, saying that this confederacy will likewise surely fail and fall to pieces. And for us, this is the main lesson in these chapters. We are instructed as to what to expect and what to do about it.”
“….It can be said that when this association of Isaiah 8 is urged, the leopard-like beast of Revelation 13 is about to pass off and the other period represented by the scarlet-colored beast of Revelation 17 is about to come on the stage of action.” (Symbolic Code, Vol. 12, No. 1 pp 5, 6, 9)
13 SC #3, 4
Isa. 7:3-9 – “God was here telling Judah that they should not fear this alliance because He was not sponsoring it. Israel and Syria were dependent on nothing greater than their kings and the capitals of their nations. Judah was instructed to depend on God's Word which declared that these allied powers would fail to overcome them. Moreover, Judah was told, "If ye will not believe, surely ye shall not be established." In other words, Judah was told that if they did not believe what God was telling them they would lose out. Their survival, therefore, was wholly conditional on their complete belief in God's promise only that the alliance formed against them would fail.
“The day is coming when you and I, too, must depend entirely on God's Word. But unless we know what God's Word is it is impossible for us to believe Him.
Isa. 8:9 – “God here is challenging a move toward a federation of nations.
“With World War I we began to hear serious proposals for the associating of nations into a single league. Today the proposal is revived, and efforts are being made toward forming a strong and workable union of nations. Indeed, not only is the idea of international federation growing more and more prevalent, but in the minds of many great men, there is the positive conviction that the successful continuance of their nation's way of life is utterly dependent upon the closest association and cooperation of all those nations which share their way of life.
“The warning given in this chapter to nations and peoples is not to associate and gird themselves or take counsel together, as it would only come to naught. There may be some significance in the repetitions of the warning. If so, it would indicate that either two or possibly three attempts would be made among nations to associate and gird themselves, and it would only end in complete failure. If there should yet be another attempt and there be involved a war against Judah, then Judah, having no adequate means of defense among themselves, will have to let God be their means of deliverance.
Isa. 8:10 -- "God's people take a strong and independent attitude because they believe that God is with them. Most human beings are somewhat like Peter. We have great faith until we meet face to face a trial. When the trial here prophesied comes, though, God's people must know that God is with them, and they must firmly stand on His side. Through this verse we are made to understand the real reason for the certain failure of the nations in their attempt to obviate the fulfillment of their fears. God is not with them. It becomes distinctly apparent, therefore, that it is the pressing duty of every God-fearing country and individual sincerely to seek God's will and be with Him, if we are to survive and prosper.
Isa. 8:11, 12 –“God's people are not only commanded not to participate in the confederacy, but they are to oppose it "to all them to whom this people shall say, A confederacy."
"Neither fear ye their fear, nor be afraid." It is upon the root of some fear that the confederacy is formed. But that which constitutes their fear is not to constitute the fear of God's people.
Isa. 8:13 -- "God alone is to be revered; God alone is to be feared and dreaded. If there were no possibility for fear at the fulfillment of this chapter, there would be no need for this reassurance and instruction. It is indicative of the fact that God's People will see themselves absolutely helpless, and they will appear helpless to all others. Then they will receive deliverance from God, and all will behold it.
“If God's people are approaching the time when they must either confederate or sacrifice their lives, they must be developing that faith which will cause them to believe that "in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them." Rev. 9:6.
Isa. 8:14 -- " A sanctuary is a place of refuge. Besides being a place of refuge to God's faithful ones, He is also to be a rock of offense to both the houses of Israel -- Judah and Israel -- and a gin and a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem. Jerusalem was the ruling city of Judah. From this it is plain that through this confederacy God is to be a gin and snare to antitypical Judah.
Isa. 8:15 -- "This prophecy declares that the confederacy will be a snare -- a trap -- and that many will fall and be taken in it. It will be a fearful trap and will separate God's people. Thus is the Lord going to test all His people and let them reveal just how much faith each of them has. In the face of this warning, we must make the necessary preparation so that we will not fall into the snare. God has clearly forewarned His people so that they will not be taken by surprise.
“In Isaiah 24 we are told that there would be a shaking as of an olive tree and but few men would be left.
“The confederacy that we are studying this afternoon commences before the Loud Cry and before the slaughter of Ezekiel 9. It is not the Image of the Beast, for this association precedes the Image of the Beast, and the confederacy is formed when the nations are girding themselves for war. Put another way, the confederacy will commence after the sealing and perhaps just before the slaughter of Ezekiel 9. Moreover, it is in the time when the Christian nations are united that the woman "Babylon" will sit on the seven "heads" (Rev. 17:9) depicting also the union of the churches under Babylon.
“All those who are not expecting the confederacy, but instead are expecting next the reassertion of Roman church supremacy or the battle of Armageddon or something else are going to fall into this snare, for it will appear to them harmless and perhaps even a good thing. But it will be their trap.” (13SC #3, 4 pp4 -10)
Let’s highlight some of the main points from the Codes.
(1) Isaiah 8:9 warns against another association of peoples, saying that this confederacy will likewise surely fail and fall to pieces. And for us, this is the main lesson in these chapters. We are instructed as to what to expect and what to do about it.”
(2) It can be said that when this association of Isaiah 8 is urged, the leopard-like beast of Revelation 13 is about to pass off and the other period represented by the scarlet-colored beast of Revelation 17 is about to come on the stage of action.
(3) If there should yet be another attempt and there be involved a war against Judah, then Judah, having no adequate means of defense among themselves, will have to let God be their means of deliverance.
(4) God's people are not only commanded not to participate in the confederacy, but they are to oppose it "to all them to whom this people shall say, A confederacy.”
(5) "Neither fear ye their fear, nor be afraid." It is upon the root of some fear that the confederacy is formed. But that which constitutes their fear is not to constitute the fear of God's people.
(6) If God's people are approaching the time when they must either confederate or sacrifice their lives, they must be developing that faith which will cause them to believe that "in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them."
(7) This prophecy declares that the confederacy will be a snare -- a trap -- and that many will fall and be taken in it. It will be a fearful trap and will separate God's people.
(8) The confederacy that we are studying this afternoon commences before the Loud Cry and before the slaughter of Ezekiel 9. It is not the Image of the Beast, for this association precedes the Image of the Beast, and the confederacy is formed when the nations are girding themselves for war. Put another way, the confederacy will commence after the sealing and perhaps just before the slaughter of Ezekiel 9.
The unpublished Code is suggesting that another association of people spoken of in Isaiah Ch. 8: 9 represent a confederacy that will take place after the sealing and before Ezek. 9. For this to occur there must be an intervening time between both events. This confederacy will have a death penalty upon God’s people, and by them opposing it they will be seeking death but will not find it (Rev. 9:6). A war will also be staged against Judah during that time. Does the Rod support these ideas including the other main points?
CONFEDERACY IN TWO PHASES, BEFORE AND AFTER EZKEIEL 9
2TG. #41.
“Now about the war as it stands today. Tract No. 14, War News Forecast, which came out several years ago, tells the truth concerning World War No. 2 and its outcome. The Tract gets its light from Nahum's prophecy.
“Moreover, there has been no official declaration as yet that the war is over. No complete settlement with the powers which fought in the war has as yet been reached. Anyone can see that the world is fast getting ready to resume the war with a mightier and final blow if possible.
“And now while the cold war between the east and west is on, the churches, too, by the Amsterdam confederacy, are enlarging the size of each block. The churches, too, are taking sides with their respective block -- Eastern or Western.
“Does it not look to you as though the world is getting ready for a church and state government? I have repeatedly pointed out that the world is unwittingly making a mighty effort to saddle the scarlet-colored beast of Revelation 17 and to mount there on BABYLON THE GREAT. We are headed for the church and state government which BABYLON THE GREAT symbolizes while riding the scarlet-colored beast, and when the war gets "hot" again, Babylon may then replace the United Nations thereafter.
“Let me now remind you what Inspiration has to say of the association of nations and peoples according to current events. For light on the subject we turn to the eighth chapter of Isaiah's prophecy. Time will not permit me to re-study with you the whole chapter, and I do not think it is necessary, for we studied it not long ago. You remember that the chapter unveils a confederacy which ancient Israel, the ten-tribe kingdom (the church), made with ancient Syria, a sovereign power of the world, to war against Judah, a sister kingdom (church). Inspiration makes a type of that church and state confederacy, and by it definitely points out the (trend) which the (nominal churches) and the sovereign powers of the world are to take (now) in the antitype. It makes known, moreover, that they will not prosper in it.”
“I shall now read to you what God Himself thinks of it:” (church and state confederacy)
Isa. 8:8-10 -- “From these scriptures it is seen that the current events brought about by the two opposing blocks, the east and the west, are not going to work out according to human planning, that the plans made by the confederation of nations and people are to come to naught except they consult God and take Him into partnership.” (2TG. #41 pp 15 - 20.) See 14Tr. pp33, 34.
“The statement, "God is with us," implies that He is not with the nations that are affiliating themselves for mutual protection, and that therefore they shall be broken, whereas His followers shall then be delivered. Nevertheless, for God to be "with us" in this special sense, we must of course make a special effort to be with Him.” (14 Tr. p 44.)
It must be understood by the student of truth, that these statements were made, interpreted and applied during the time of World War 2. The confederation of nations and people during that time represents the beginning of the fulfillment of Isaiah 8:9.
The only two confederacies that are mentioned in the above references are; church confederate with church, and state with state, (phase 1, Assyrian period) and church and state confederacy, (phase 2, BABYLON THE GREAT). Phase 1 is during the Assyrian period, and Phase 2, the Babylonian period.
According to the Rod, the confederacy spoken of in Isa.8 represents the trend (Tendency-. Webster,) that the nominal churches (No S.D.A. See 2 SC #8 p12, 1SC #5 p6) and the sovereign powers of the world are to take place now in the antitype. In other words, just as the type reveals a religious body (Israel) confederating with a civil (Syria) to war against their brethren (Judah) is exactly what the Protestants are going to do in the antitype. For this to occur before Ezek. 9 as the Code is suggesting, the nominal churches must first be completely united, woman sitting on the heads.
(2 SC # 7- 8 1936)
Question:
"Will the nominal churches be united, before the slaughter of Ezekiel 9, and before the Loud Cry of the Third Angel's message takes place?
Answer:
“The churches (may incompletely) confederate almost any time, but the union of church and state (the image of the beast) will take place only after the "investigative judgment" of the dead is completed, for the fact that the "anger of the nations" (the time of trouble, Dan. 12:1), "the wrath of God" (the seven last plagues, Rev. 15:1, and the "time to judge the dead" (Dan. 8:14), are events separate and distinct, one following the other."--"Early Writings," p. 36. (2 SC #7-8 p.12).
The Rod made it plain that the nominal churches may incompletely confederate almost any time. The complete confederation of the nominal churches will occur when the woman sits on the seven heads, after Ezek. 9. See 2 SR. pp157, 158, and The Harvest Period Chart.
The only confederacy the Rod teach or supports from Isaiah’s prophecy, is the unholy alliance between a Christian body uniting with a Civil Government, (Church and State) to war against their brother, as the following reference will further support.
“The pages of the Bible are replete with such Heaven-condemned perpetrations. Notable among them is the unholy alliance between the king of Israel and the king of Syria against the kingdom of Judah (the sister kingdom of Israel). The Scriptures concerning this alliance, not only prohibit a church confederation with any government that would involve brother killing brother in the faith, but also assure such a violator of a downfall from which there is no possible rising. This is quickly seen from the fact that the confederacy did not succeed in breaking Judah; but rather that God employed the predatory power, Assyria, swiftly to break the confederacy, to destroy both kings, and to scatter Israel and Syria throughout the cities of the Medes, even though Judah herself was not wholly devoted to God.” (See Isa. 7:2, 7, 8; 8:4, 9-14). (M.S. p5)
THE REASON FOR A CONFEDERACY, 1ST PHASE.
“Coming back now to our present world crisis, since, as previously mentioned, the crowned kings of today (Rev. 13) have already dwindled to a handful, and since the churches, in their cry for peace and safety, are endeavoring to clasp hands with one another, we should do wisely now to inquire into
CURRENT EVENTS THAT MAY FULFILL PROPHECY.
”Because the bone of contention among the angry nations of today is the world's markets, and because the churches are threatened by the totalitarian governments, and thus urged to press together in order to preserve Christianity, the fact is thereby evidenced that the time is nigh for the arrival of the predicted world-wide religious-political-commercial empire, the supposed remedy for the world's ills.
”Now is seen that the prophecy of Revelation 17 and 18, the last scene in the drama played by the nations, is about to be enacted.
”The warring nations are already divided into two distinct ideological camps: On the one side are the democratic governments, while on the other side are the totalitarian.
”Such a combination of circumstances will result in a replication of the international church-and-state rule of the Middle Ages, and will relegate to the scrap heap the world's finest instrument of human liberty -- the divinely inspired Constitution of the United States of America. Since this development will make the world's ills worse, it will signalize that the four angels have let loose the winds, and that the 144,000 Israelites are sealed (Rev. 7:3-8). (12 Tr. p 53-55)
The reason for the church confederacy during the Assyrian period is because the churches are threatened (feared) by the totalitarian governments, and thus urged to press together in order to preserve Christianity which will result in a replication (reproduction - Webster) of the international church-and-state rule of the Middle Ages - the enforcement of the Sunday blue law. It is at this time that the divinely inspired Constitution of the United States of America will be repudiated. (See GC. p 588, 5T 451.)
The latter day confederacy (church with church, and state with state – 1st phase) is set up solely for the purpose of a fear been ruled by a totalitarian form of government. This has to do with war with another nation (not against Davidians) which eventually will lead into a church and state union / Mark of the Beast (2nd phase), a time of trouble (war) against Judah, the 144,000, then the Great Multitude.
“This church and state union will bring "a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation." Dan. 12:1. Nevertheless, "whosoever will save [protect] his life" by sacrificing the truth, "shall lose it," says Christ, "and whosoever will lose [risk] his life for My sake" by standing firm for the truth, "shall find it." Matt. 16:25. Tract 12 p55.
Dan.12:1 applies only to the time after the purification of the church, at the ending of the Assyrian period, and the beginning of the Babylonian. See 2TG #7 pp10, 11. Also see p 80 of this article for a detailed explanation on a war against Judah, when.
THE CONFEDERACY, 1st PHASE, AND DUTY OF GODS SAINTS
UNPUBLISHED CODES
“God's people are not only commanded not to participate in the confederacy, but they are to oppose it "to all them to whom this people shall say, a confederacy."
“If God's people are approaching the time when they must either confederate or sacrifice their lives, they must be developing that faith which will cause them to believe that "in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them." Rev. 9:6. (13 SC #3, 4, pp7-9)
The unpublished Code instructed us not participate in the confederacy, and to oppose it. – “Oppose may apply to an act or attitude ranging from mild objection to bitter hostility or warfare.” Webster).
The Code places the confederacy in the time when men shall seek death and not find it. Rev. 9:6 takes place after Ezek.9 as was mentioned in 5Tr. Please go back to p15 of this article for a detailed explanation.
2 TG. #41.1949
“Let us now hear what the Lord would have us do, the stand He would have His people take:
Isa. 8:11, 12 -- "For the Lord spake thus to me with a strong hand, and instructed me that I should not walk in the way of this people, saying, Say ye not, A confederacy, to all them to whom this people shall say, A confederacy; neither fear ye their fear, nor be afraid."
“The fear which the people fear is not to be our fear; neither are their plans to be our plans. Our duty is to--
Isa. 8:13 -- "Sanctify the Lord of hosts Himself; and let Him be your fear, and let Him be your dread."
“To sanctify the Lord is to be all for Him, to have no one else in His stead, to put your entire trust in Him, not making flesh your arm, for He alone is able to see you through. And though you should be the only one in all the world to take such a stand, He will not fail you. If such be your case, you will then become Heaven's greatest hero. (2 TG. #41 pp18-20)
“Is it armament then that the nations of today need for peace and security? Is atomic war to be their fear? -- What they need to fear is "the sword of the Lord," for His "sword shall be bathed in heaven," "it shall come down upon Idumea, and upon the people of [His] curse." They need not fear anything if they fear the Lord. Let them make Him their fear, their dread and protection (Isa. 8:13).” 1TG #35 p 22.
The only instruction or duty Davidians are required to execute during the confederacy is to sanctify and to fear the Lord. The voice of God gave no other command, than what is published by Him. See GCS. p8.
The prophecy of Isa.8:11, 12 is interpreted by some that “Assyria is to impose a death decree upon Davidians because they will be opposing the confederacy by telling our S.D.A brothers and sisters not to join this confederacy.”
Although Isa. 8:11, 12 has been grossly misinterpreted, Davidians do have a responsibility informing Seventh Day Adventist not to join the army, especially during this confederacy – war, when it gets hot again. (See1TG. #6 p31). The General Conference does not take a stand against their members joining the service. Military Stand would also be a good source of information for them to receive.
We should not wait for the continuation of World War 2 to escalate about the holy land to fulfill this duty. This should be treated like any other abomination. (See 1 T 361, Lev.p3, 2 Ans. Ques. #32, 3 Ans. Ques. # 67, and 5 Ans. Ques. #129). Now is the time more than any other for us to fulfill 1TG 27 p3, 4.
During the time of World War 2 when things were hot, Davidians were not opposing the War in an open demonstratetive fashion; as a matter of fact they were advised if they were drafted, to register under Section 1 - 0’s program. See MS p16, 5 Ans. pp70-73 and MTC pp14, 15. The same is to be repeated.
TRUTH, A STONE OF STUMBLING, ROCK OF OFFENCE, A GIN AND A SNARE.
Isa. 8:14 -- "And He shall be for a sanctuary; (to the followers of the truth. Tr.14 p 44) but for a stone of stumbling and for a rock of offence to both the houses of Israel, for a gin and for a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem."
“This truth, you note, will now, just as has any Divinely-revealed truth at any time in the past, become a rock of offense and a snare to many -- yes, as Christ Himself became such to the Jews -- because rather than taking their stand firmly for Divine truth, they are becoming as hostile against it as were the Jews in Christ's day.”
Isa. 8:15 -- "And many among them shall stumble, and fall, and be broken, and be snared, and be taken."
“According to this scripture many of them will find "the rapture" not to their liking and not according to their teaching of it.” (2 TG. #41 pp20, 21). See1TG. #24 p 12.
Isa. Ch.8:14, 15 clearly stated that He-God will be a sanctuary to the followers of truth, but for a stone of stumbling and for a rock of offence to both the houses of Israel, for a gin and for a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
The houses of Israel and the inhabitants of Jerusalem in this context have reference to the rejecters of truth (SDA) and their results, (v15). What truth? In the context of Isa. 8 it is speaking of the confederacy. Therefore it is the rejection of truth, relating to the confederacy also, that will cause many among them to stumble, and fall, and be broken, and be snared, and be taken.

NO INTERVENING TIME.
Another reference that is used to support the idea that trouble is coming to the church after the sealing and before Ezek. 9 is found in 11 S.C. lets carefully examine it. Sis. Houteff stated in her introduction, ( ) Her’s.
(“The sermon which has been selected for this issue of The Symbolic Code is on Isaiah 27. It was given on several occasions in 1936 and the last time Brother Houteff presented it was February 27, 1943. On September 21, 1936 Brother Houteff made the remarks concerning the possibility of trouble coming to the church after the sealing of the saints and before the slaughter of Ezekiel 9, and if so what the results would be and why. Since Revelation 11 has more recently been unfolded before us we should be able to see that it is not just a possibility, but rather both a fact and approaching reality that trouble is coming to the church before the slaughter of Ezekiel 9. None therefore need be ignorant concerning what we must now be doing about it.”)
“The subject .for this afternoon is a continuation of our study of last Sabbath dealing with Early Writings, pp. 36 and 38.
Rev. 7:1-4-- “You notice here that the angels are not told to hold the winds until Ezekiel 9 has all been fulfilled, but until the servants of God are sealed. Therefore, if there is any intervening time between the close of the sealing and the slaughter of Ezekiel 9, there is a possibility that the winds could start blowing during that time. If the nations had everything ready, it would not necessarily take long to bring the trouble that is represented by the four winds. We do know from this scripture that God will restrain the winds until the sealing is finished, for according to verse 3 of this chapter a message was sent to the four angels instructing them to hold the winds until the sealing of the 144,000 is finished. It shows that the Devil is doing all he can to loose the winds as soon as possible, perhaps even in a day. (11 S.C # 7 pp3, 7, 8)
Please note; both Codes are contradicting each other.
13 S.C said that the confederacy will begin after the sealing and perhaps before the slaughter. It also stated that “It is not the Image of the Beast, for this association precedes the Image of the Beast.”
11 S.C. said that there is a possibility for the winds - trouble (Mark of the Beast) to start blowing between those same times, (if there is any intervening time.)
Sis. Houteff commented, “Since Revelation 11 has more recently been unfolded before us we should be able to see that it is not just a possibility, but rather both a fact and approaching reality that trouble is coming to the church before the slaughter of Ezekiel 9. None therefore need be ignorant concerning what we must now be doing about it.”
This understanding is derived because of her false prophetic revelation on the forty two months prophecy. The Code said “IF.”
According to both Codes, the blowing of the winds, (trouble) and the confederacy, (church and state) could take place between the sealing and the slaughter. What confusion! Isn’t the blowing of the winds the same as the church and state confederacy which is during the Babylonian period?
Let us agree for argument sake that it was Bro. Houteff’s sermons that Sis. Houteff published in the Codes. Who authorized her, why the Prophet himself didn’t publish it while he was alive? If those were His sermons, then obviously they were revised and the correct understanding is in the published materials!
The unauthorized Codes are creating some false prophetic events to occur between the sealing and the slaughter, c/s confederacy, and Rev. 7:1.
The first question we need to ask is will there be any intervening time between the sealing and the slaughter and the slaughter and the blowing of the winds? In other words, after the sealing is completed, will the destroying angels follow immediately to slay those who do not have the seal, and when will the winds blow, before or after Ezek. 9.Also, will the church be persecuted before Ezek 9.
(1S.R 1930)
FIVE MEN FOLLOW THE ONE
“The men with the slaughter weapons must immediately follow the one with the writer's inkhorn. The men with the slaughter weapons were already slaying before the man with the writer's inkhorn returned to report the matter that he had done as he was commanded. See Ezekiel 9:8, 11.
“We read in Testimonies to Ministers, page 445: "This sealing of the servants of God [the 144,000: Rev. 7] is the same that was shown to Ezekiel in vision." Then the sealing of the 144,000 is the same as Ezekiel 9, and the marking by the man with the writer's inkhorn is the seal. As soon as the marking is done, "the five men with the slaughter weapons go after him and slay both old and young, both maids and little children, and women. And they began at the ancient men which were before the house." (1 SR pp37, 38, 46, 47)
(2 TG #10 1947)
# 5. “That immediately thereafter,” (thereafter what?) (# 4) “The destruction of the tares from among the first fruits of the living,”) the angels let loose the four winds, where upon ensues,–(To come after in time or as a result. Webster) the time of trouble and Michael standing up.” (2 TG #10 p29)
(9Tr.1942)
“The angels' holding back the winds at the four corners of the earth denotes that they are holding back some world-wide trouble which, should it break out while the church is in her Laodicean condition, would block the sealing. And from this fact, it follows that immediately after the 144,000 are sealed, the trouble will begin, signalizing the angels' loosing the winds. With this trouble "such as never was since there was a nation" (Dan. 12:1), the great multitude is to be brought face to face while being called out of Babylon (Rev. 18:4) into the kingdom.” (9 Tr. p58) (See also 8Tr. pp22-25, 15 Tr. pp59, 60.)
BLOWING OF THE WINDS, WHEN?
(2 SC #9 1936)
Question:
"Is the church to be purified before the enforcement of the Sunday law? Or will the Sunday law be the means of showing who are loyal and who are not loyal to the truth?"
Answer:
“If the time of trouble or the anger of the nations, which is caused by the union of church and state (the image of the beast), takes place in the time of the judgment of the living, as explained in former publications, the enforcement of the "Blue Sunday law" must take place after the purification of the church. The Bible says, "The dragon...went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus." (Rev. 12:17.) (2 SC #9 p.5) (See also 1 SC. #5 p5)
The point of interest from these references is there is clearly no intervening time between the sealing and the purification of the church. Inspiration made it very clear that the angels will immediately slay as soon as the sealing is over.
Also that immediately thereafter the destruction of the tares from among the first fruits of the living, the angels let loose the four winds. This would also eliminate the possibility of the blowing of the winds occurring between the sealing and the slaughter.
Further more; let’s remember that the sealing is the same as the slaughter which is the purification of the church. See 8Tr. p24, Tr.1 pp19, 20.
(9Tr.1942)
“And as during the sealing period, the nations are restrained from obstructing the sealing of the righteous, and the "four angels" (Rev. 7:2) are commanded not to hurt the wicked, we see that the 144,000 are sealed in a time of peace -- not, though, in a time of peace among the nations themselves, but rather in a time during which neither the nations are permitted to persecute the church (those who are being sealed) nor the angels permitted to hurt the wicked. This condition, however, being contrary to that which existed in the days of the apostles, when both the Romans and the Jews persecuted the Christians, and when God took the life of Ananias and Sapphira, and brought destruction upon Jerusalem,”(9Tr. p53)
(WR 1951)
“But as the church today is virtually everywhere in subordination to the state, and therefore utterly powerless to impose the penalty of imprisonment, torture, and death, as her predecessors frequently did, in punishment for supposed heresy, the threat of excommunication is consequently the highest price that the Denomination is able to impose upon any who would dare to awaken her sleepers.” (WR. p72.)
During the sealing period, the nations and the church are not permitted to persecute those who are being sealed. The only persecution Davidians will encounter before the purification is by our brethren in the church as mentioned in the Rod. (See 1 SR. pp245 - 252.)
“Written words can be misconstrued, but symbols can not”
In TR. #9 p58 and 2TG #10 p29, Bro. Houteff said that immediately after the sealing the winds would blow. In order for us to rightly divide the word of truth, we must understand every word in its proper context. The word immediately has different applications.
The word was used in context when Rev. 7 was commented upon. God did not reveal to John any other event after the sealing other than the blowing of the winds. (Global disturbance.) However, in Rev. 17 He revealed the woman sitting on the heads (Church confederacy) and the false prophet and the beast (National disturbance) after the purification of the church, giving to us additional events that is not recorded in Rev. 7. 1, thus revealing, that these are the only events that will occur between the sealing and the blowing of the winds. (See the harvest period and the close of probation chart.) Each prophecy reveals additional information.
WHAT IS A CONFEDERACY
“The question has been asked, ‘What do you mean by a confederacy? Who has formed confederacies? You know what a confederacy is;--A UNION OF MEN in a work that does not bear the stamp of pure, straightforward, unswerving integrity (MS 29, 1911).” E.G. White -- 4 Bible Commentary 1142.
“There is to be no change in the general features of our work. It is to stand as clear and distinct as prophecy has made it. We are to enter into no confederacy with the world, supposing that by so doing we could accomplish more. If any stand in the way, to hinder the advancement of the work in the lines that God has appointed, they will displease God.” (6T p17)
DICTIONARY DEFINITIONS
Confederate: United in a league or an alliance.
LEAGUE: An association or an alliance.
ALLIANCE: Bond or connection between two parties.
INCORPORATE: To unite or become a corporation.
Please observe that the different definitions used all has the same meaning.
The SDA church is incorporated with the state, and has confederated with the Protestant churches but not in the context of Isa. 7, 8. (See 8 Tr.p48, 2 SM pp 121, 122, 371, 372, www.ncccusa.org).
CONCLUTION.
A visual picture of the confederacy spoken of in Isa.Ch’s 7, 8 must always be retained in our mind for us to have a consistent understanding throughout our study. The confederacy spoken of there, represents a church and state confederacy that met it’s antitype in the Middle Ages, and will be repeated again in the last days, the time of the mark of the beast.
There are quite a few contradictions between the Rod and the unpublished Codes. This comparative study clearly brought them to surface. One thing must be made clear, and that is the unpublished Codes are not a part of the Rod series, they are not in the Golden Bowl, therefore they do not take precedent, neither are they equal with the Rod even if the Prophet wrote them, they were not published by Him.
Over the years I have heard many versions on the confederacy given from different individuals. No one seems to make much sense and very confusing. For an example; “Assyria is to impose a death decree upon Davidians because they will be opposing the confederacy by telling our S.D.A brothers and sisters not to join this confederacy.”
To recapitulate, it is impossible for any death decree to be enforced upon God’s people before the purification of the church according to Rev. 7 and Tr. 15.
Do you not see the confusion these Codes have created?
“Find your explanations "in the Bowl," and you will have no trouble in knowing the truth, or of avoiding the ever ready trap of deception. Thus the difficulty in knowing the difference between truth and error is eliminated.” 2SR p289.
Brothers and Sisters, there is no doubt that we are heading for some serious times. It is evident that the greatest of all wars will create a time of great complexity. Many will be confused as to what decision they should take. As present truth believers, we should have no fear; we have a chart and compass directing us in the right path.
During this war, the nominal churches will reunite – confederate, stronger and take sides with there respective block, democracy, because of the fear of losing their way of life. There is no doubt that the SDA church will also be caught up in that deception. See 2SR pp88-96, 157.
As present truth believers during this confederacy, we do have a commission to mother and the world, the church and the state as the next subject will support.
